The Indian Times reported on Wedsneday, 27th November, that the governement is working on using blockchain to scale up its tech level and capacity. A number of potential applications are currently investigated, including Governance, Banking, and Finance.
While it does not mention exactly what the projects will be about, the minister of state for IT mentioned a few domains worth exploring. The ministry supported a number of research projects recently that are developing proof of concepts solutions.
India is in particular trying to curb corruption and improve inefficient resource use, and blockchain could help providing transparency in the areas where it’s used.
Already, some tech evolutions like PoE (Proof of Existence) are ready to be used for the issuance of certificates, such as university degrees, and avoiding fake degrees that strive thanks to a messy and not centralized issuance system.
